Arten von Ursachen

The intensive observation of the environment, existing objects and everything one can experience corresponds to the constant source and fundamental material for artistic thought and action.
This sculptural work explores the language of objects – their materials and textures, their scale and history. It evokes memories and provokes reflection. The characteristic features of objects – stability and mobility, internal structure and surfaces – seem to offer limitless possibilities. Yet their meaning remains entirely inexplicable and is always capable of raising questions.
The classification and orientation of perceptions are aspects of the reality of space and time, as well as the process of comparing them with what one can know, and the findings gleaned from the unknown. – Because things are as they are, this gives rise to a narrative that is invented by both the artist and the observer.
Since all of this concerns a relationship between the inner and the outer, inspiration and motivation work equally powerful. Success should not make the effort a separate issue; in the end, beauty has many facets. Once established, this state ultimately holds the dubious beginnings and stages of development together, as if by a miracle, in a definitive form which, needless to say, leaves everything open to further contemplation and frees the viewer from the need to understand.
As concepts expressed in figurative language, they remain present before our eyes as precise terms. Even though everything has been discussed, written about and shared by many, their autonomous presence effectively stands firm, untouched by these assessments.
This transitional quality is particularly characteristic of three-dimensional objects and their tools; they unite place and aura by revealing, across periods of time, just how valuable proximity and distance can be content-wise.
